Planning to Make Indiana Elder-Friendly

\The state of Indiana is engaged in a unique effort to plan ahead for the upcoming “silver tsunami” – the aging of the baby boomers. The US Administration on Aging has selected Indiana to demonstrate new forms of community planning that would be both highly participatory and driven by valid and reliable data on the status of older Hoosiers.

The Active Aging Coalition and the Area 10 Agency on Aging have partnered to initiate a community conversation around the results of the recent statewide/local survey of 60+ Hoosiers, which was coordinated by the Indiana University Center on Aging and Community.
On August 28, from 8:00 am to 11 am, Phil Stafford, manager for the statewide planning project will debut survey results for Monroe and Owen Counties and facilitate a follow-up discussion that will enable participants to begin identifying and discussing both the needs and the opportunities facing the local area as the population ages.

The public is cordially invited to attend this event and subsequent planning activities of the Coalition and the Area 10 Agency on Aging. Hosting the event is the Bell Trace Senior Living Community, which will provide a light breakfast at 7:30 am for guests. No rsvp is required. The meeting will occur in the lower level of the Bell Trace main building, 800 Bell Trace Circle (off East Tenth), in Bloomington.
