Note Takers and Tutors Wanted for a Student with Vision Impairment

Note Takers and Tutors wanted for 4 classes (apply for one or more classes):

EDUC-BE328 (Elementary Education Math & Science Cluster)

1.Monday 9:30am - 10:45am

2. Mon&Wed 11:15am - 12:30pm

3. Wednesday 8:00am - 9:15am and 1:00pm - 3:45pm

EDUC-K305 (Teaching Exceptional Learners in Elementary School)

Tuesday and Thursday 8:00am - 9:15am

EDUC-W 301 (Integrating Technology into Teaching - Part I)

Thursday 9:30am - 10:45am

HPER-H 414 (Health Education in Grades K-6)

Wednesday 6:00pm - 8:45pm

Qualifications: Applicants must have a strong academic background in the material covered in the course. Preferably, applicants have previously taught or passed with an "A" the specific course for which they are applying. Neat handwriting and/or good typing skills are necessary. Applicants must be able to attend all class meetings for the entire duration of the class. (Note: For the Math and Science cluster, applicants should indicate whether they are available for one, two, or all three sections.)

Responsibilities: Student note taker will attend all class sessions. All notes, diagrams, and other materials presented visually in class will be transcribed in large, clear handwriting with a thick-tipped pen or marker into a notebook for the student to read simultaneously.

Additionally, the student note taker will take notes from all orally presented materials using a laptop computer or AlphaSmart word processor, provided on loan for the semester by the Adaptive Technology Center, and e-mail notes to the student immediately after each class session. Preferably, the note taker will also be available to tutor this student 1-2 hours a week in the same subject. Tutoring will consist of discussing and re-explaining outside readings for the class and brainstorming for projects and papers.

Compensation: Rate of pay is negotiable. If the note taker borrows an AlphaSmart or laptop for the job, they will have it for their own personal use during the semester.
