The Future Leaders Program is a 2-day program, designed primarily for minority students in their final year of college, to learn more about media career opportunities at SMG in Chicago. Midwest Hispanic Student Leadership Conference

The US Hispanic Leadership Institute is proud to announce the Midwest Hispanic Student Leadership Conference at the Hyatt Regency Hotel, September 27, 2008 from 9:00am-5:00pm. Last year's conference was a success, bringing over 400 student leaders from Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Michigan, Minnesota and Wisconsin. This year we will have a wide variety of workshops, an informative forum on Latino demographics and also an exhibit area with graduate schools, non-profit and for-profit organizations. Become an ACE

Are you passionate about leadership, service, and social justice? Apply to be an Advocate for Community Engagement (ACE) with the IU Office of Service-Learning! ACEs are IU undergraduates who serve with a specific agency for at least one year coordinating IU service-learning students and volunteers, communicating with faculty, and engaging in the daily life of an agency. The ACE program provides leadership development for students of diverse backgrounds and interests. Through the support of on-going training and professional development ACEs are challenged to achieve their own potential to serve and lead. OSL is currently seeking enrolled students to apply for ACE undergraduate assistantships for the 2008-2009 academic year. The position is approximately 10 hours per week for a stipend of $3000 per year, starting Fall 2008. R100 Leadership Classes For Spring 2008

DID YOU KNOW....? IU students can earn an academic credit as they learn about leadership skills through active participation in programs and events through their student organizations and clubs
GET CREDIT FOR THE WORK YOU ARE ALREADY DOING!!!
The R100 Leadership courses are a practical way to learn and improve self-leadership and organizational leadership skills. These courses created by the Department of Recreation, Park, and Tourism Studies, parallel the students extra-curricular activities with a college credit.
The classes are 1 credit hour independent study.

The classes are offered to active members of student/community organizations and clubs.
* There is NO actual class time but only two flexible leadership speaker presentations to attend. Time spent planning, participating, and attending programs and events sponsored by the organization are the class time for the students.
* The course assignments are practical and easy to follow. They help enhance what students are already doing with their organizations or clubs.
* Students receive an academic credit for extra-curricular activities and work.
* The class is free if the student is taking less than 17 credit hours and there is no late registration fee.

R100 Participant Leadership Development
This course helps students develop their self-leadership skills by participation in programs sponsored by their organization. All active members can sign up for this class.
R100 Organizational Leadership Development
This course helps students learn about and experience leadership skills that enhance group and organizational productivity. Members with an identifiable leadership role can sign up for this class.

LEAD IU

LEAD IU is a comprehensive student leadership development program designed to develop the knowledge, awareness and skills necessary for enhancing participation in campus and community activities. LEAD IU programs are designed to address the specific needs of participants, regardless of their current or previous level of involvement in campus and community activities. The program offers a variety of experiences, both inside and outside the classroom and from a variety of perspectives, to provide participants with a well-rounded view on organizational leadership and community involvement. Students interested in participating in LEAD IU can attend any retreat, workshop or enroll in academic credit courses. Indiana University Washington Leadership Program (WLP)

The Washington Leadership Program, sponsored by the School of Public and Environmental Affairs (SPEA), is looking for applicants for the spring 2008 semester. This program offers 30 IU juniors and seniors of all majors a leadership development internship opportunity. Internships available to students range from The US Department of State, to working
for an Indiana Congressional representative, to working with a nongovernmental organization or nonprofit foundation. Students are able to remain full-time IU students while they are in DC through enrollment in classes taught by a SPEA faculty member and internship credit. The
WLP is an amazing gateway to full-time work opportunities in DC in politics, public affairs, and many other careers. More than 30 former WLP students currently work in the greater DC area. The application deadline for the spring 2008 semester is September 27th, 2007. Students

The Emerging Leaders Program is a new program that we are launching this year for first-year students. We are hoping to have between 40 and 60 participants. It is a year-long program, and is free of cost to those who choose to participate.
