Andrew Libby, Assistant Director of the Office of Service-Learning, will be at the Scholar’s Inn Bakehouse (125 N. College, corner of College & 6th) on Wednesdays from 10:00 am -12:00 pm during the spring semester. Please feel free to meet with him to provide feedback, ask questions, and share ideas for improving service-learning with your agency. Community agencies that do not have an ACE or are not yet working with OSL are also welcome to drop by to explore possibilities for new partnerships with

Midwest Pages to Prisoners

My name is Anita Mazkoori, and I am the Advocate for Community Engagement (ACE) for Midwest Pages to Prisoners. Midwest Pages to Prisoners is a volunteer run project that responds directly to
prisoners in federal and state institutions throughout the Midwest and the United States who write to us requesting free reading materials. We exist in order to alleviate pain and boredom from prisoners as well as to provide a direct opportunity for self-education.
I am writing you in order to request your and your students? involvement at Midwest Pages to Prisoners. Through service learning, a student is given the opportunity to expand their knowledge about criminal justice, non-profit management, and social justice by means of hands-on experience with the subject.Volunteers may come to Pages to Prisoners on Sundays from 2-5, and Mondays and Thursdays from 7-9. After each session, volunteers will be engaged in a group discussion in order to reflect on what they have learned in the time they spent service learning.
In addition to Service-Learning, Pages to Prisoners will also be offereing a volunteer opportunity known as a "Pack-a-Thon". We will be having a Pack-a-Thon on MLKJ day, Monday January 21st in honor of the Cuban 5. It will be taking place at Pages from 12-3 in the afternoon. It will be a great opportunity for new volunteers to get to know more about our project, as well as meet others with similar interests.
