Time: 4:30 PM - 6:30 PM
Cardiovascular disease claims more women's lives than all forms of cancer combined. In Indiana, over 10,000 women died from major cardiovascular diseases in 2004. Empower yourself to take control of your health and the health of your loved ones.
Join First Lady Cheri Daniels and Laurie Burns McRobbie for the "Heart to Heart" program. Both First Ladies’ are very excited about bringing women from our IU family and the community together to learn more about taking care of our hearts, especially when we are young. Heart disease is the number 1 killer of women in Indiana and the nation, and it is never too early to start being good to our hearts.
Our guest speakers include Mrs. Daniels, Cindy Adams, a Nurse Practitioner, and Dr. Jeanne Johnston from HPER's Kinesology Department. Dr. Johnston will be talking about heart research in young women and will have some very impactful findings to share.
Screenings begin at 4:30 and our program will start at 5:30 in Alumni Hall. The array of screenings and exhibits are quite unique:
* Waist girth
* Body composition analysis
* Pedometers and tracking sheets
* Carbon dioxide testing
* Blood pressure measurements
